Spoon

Rolling Stone still exists and calls Spoon “one of the most reliably great rock bands” to emerge around the turn of the century, and I have to agree.

Spoon called me to commission a poster design for a big new year’s eve show with Jay Reatard. I executed what I believe to be the best poster I ever designed. The band liked it too, and immediately commissioned several more posters and a t-shirt design for their upcoming tour dates.

A logo grew out of that first poster and appeared in all kinds of places, including on a glossy poster atop a beautiful photo by the legendary Autumn de Wilde.

My Spoon posters won recognition from the Society of Illustrators and Communication Arts for art direction and illustration. A handsome French coffee table book called Rock Poster Art featured a two-page spread on the series, and a Chinese glossy art magazine called Fantasy Art dedicated a full six-page feature to me and my work for Spoon.

In 2022 Spoon called again, this time for a tour poster for their critically acclaimed album Lucifer on the Sofa, subsequently nominated for Best Rock Album at the Grammy Awards.
