Scharpling and Wurster

For several years, I brought to life on paper a slew of characters from the radio and podcast hilarity of Tom Scharpling and Jon Wurster.

Tom is an accomplished television writer, music video and commercial director, author of the bestselling memoir It Never Ends!, and host of wildly popular radio show The Best Show On WFMU, which evolved into today’s The Best Show podcast.

Jon Wurster plays drums with indie-rock pioneers Superchunk, The Mountain Goats, and The Bob Mould Band.

Together they are responsible for some of the funniest long-form comedy of the last century.

Several albums of the best of the duo’s on-air bits were released on Stereolaffs and Merge Records, but nothing beats the definitive box set released by Numero Group featuring 16 discs (with my art on each one), postcards, tattoos, and a gorgeous hardbound 106-page book.
