The MTA Compass

Even lifelong New Yorkers occasionally find themselves disoriented when exiting the subway, especially at an unfamiliar stop.

The MTA Compass project is a simple analog wayfinding solution that aids locals and tourists alike in their travels.

Located at the entrance and exit of every subway station, bus stop, and station platform, the stenciled MTA Compass graphic lets you know which direction you are going in an instant.

With highly visible directional signage, stairway bottlenecks are greatly diminished, as passengers are empowered to keep walking to their destinations without stopping to reference a map or a phone.

The easier a transit system is to use, the more people use it. The MTA Compass helps New Yorkers and visitors see more of New York with every step.
