Modest Mouse

I got a call from Modest Mouse frontman Isaac Brock and Naheed Simjee on a Sunday night, asking if I might be able to draw some animals made out of hands chasing each other around for a record cover. I said yes.

We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank debuted at #1 on the Billboard charts and promptly went gold.

A wolf-hand chasing a goose-fingered-hand appears in the gatefold spread of the LP cover, and a tentacled hand appears on the front cover of the lead single from the album, Dashboard.

The deluxe CD booklet features even more of my drawings, including a turtle-hand, a horse-hand, and more geese.

The endless snake hand is by artist David Ellis, and the full package design is by Christian Helms and Geoff Peveto at the Decoder Ring.
