Art shows, interviews, spring, etc.

Happy April everyone. I've had a busy couple of months. I attended the opening of the Society of Illustrators advertising art exhibit at the Museum of American Illustration in New York. My poster for Spoon and Jay Reatard was part of the show. After New York, I spent a week in Chapel Hill, NC, acting as line producer on a hilarious new video for Merge Records indie rock champs Superchunk, masterminded by director Whitey McConnaughy. It premiered a few days ago and is currently blowing the internet's mind.

After returning to the welcoming grey skies of Portland for a couple of weeks, I had work in two incredible group shows in L.A. and New York that opened on the same night (April 9).

I was in attendance for the L.A. show, at the Scion Installation in Culver City. The other heavy hitters in the show were Glenn Barr, Gary Baseman, Brian Despain, Shepard Fairey, Justin Hampton, Frank Kozik, Tara McPherson, Scott Musgrove, Jermaine Rogers, and Jeff Soto. Photos from the opening can be seen on Scion L.A.'s Facebook page, and the show is up through the 30th of this month.

Here's a couple of shots from the opening in L.A.

Folks line up for the show in L.A.

L-R: Justin Hampton, Scott Musgrove, Casey Burns, Brian Despain.

The show in New York was at Tara McPherson's brand new Cotton Candy Machine boutique and gallery in Williamsburg. The line was out the door and down the block all night long, and almost all of the 100+ pieces in the show sold on opening night. Congratulations to Tara and partner Sean Leonard on their new space!

I've been interviewed by a couple of magazines lately. Fantasy Art magazine, published in far-off China, did a HUGE six-page feature on me in their December issue. I just got a copy of it, and it's a really nice piece. Scans of the pages can be seen on my Facebook page.

I also just finished up an interview with Communication Arts magazine. I'll post a link to it when it's online!
